If you’re struggling with writing content for your website, finding writing a business report a nightmare or would love to create a newsletter but don’t know how to start then don’t worry – it’s not your fault!

There is a silent conspiracy working against you and it means that “they” make money because you can’t write as you would want to.

“They” make it worse by making it seem a lot harder than it need be so that you go to them to write for you.

It may not even be an official conspiracy with an evil mastermind in a secret HQ but its still as effective. When have you ever heard a copywriter say…

·         “No, you should be writing this instead.”

·         “You have the knowledge and passion that I can’t match.”

·         “You know far more about your business then I ever will.”

·         “Here’s a better way of doing it that will save you time and money”.

·         “I’ll do this first one so you can do the rest.”

The answer is probably never because they don’t want you to know how to write, they don’t want you to realise that you are the best person to create your copy and they don’t want it to be quick and easy. Then they bill you. Not only do they bill you they then keep you in this trap so that you go back for more and more. They create and foster this idea that you can’t do it, you haven’t the time anyway and if you had it wouldn’t be good enough.

This is nonsense. I do not doubt their writing ability but I do doubt that they are either the quick option or the best option. I certainly doubt that they look at a long term relationship as anything but long term business for themselves.

This reminds me of that expression that if you give someone a fish they’ll eat for one day but if you teach them how to fish they’ll eat for ever. They sell you fish and tell you how hard it is to catch fish.
